My Corner of the Internet — Because It's Yours

There's a moment most developers go through: you open Notion, type a few lines for an "about me" page, and leave it untouched for three months. Or worse — you pick a template, swap the avatar, and call it a portfolio.

I've done both. And eventually I wanted something different: a small corner of the internet that actually belongs to me.

It's not about lacking platforms

LinkedIn has audience built in. Medium has distribution. Every dev has a GitHub profile. So why bother building mylittleworld.dev?

Short answer: ownership.

When you publish on someone else's platform, you're renting space. Algorithms change, features get removed, accounts get locked — and everything you invested in can disappear or stop rendering the way you intended.

A personal website is the opposite. It's slower, fewer readers — but every decision is yours: layout, language, storytelling, even where to put a "read aloud" button on a post.

I thought weeks — turned out to be days

I built this because I wanted my own site, not a template. Saying "a few weeks" sounds impressive — with AI, the core site was up in a few days. But it didn't stop there. This is something I genuinely care about — most days I spend a little time thinking it through, improving UI/UX, polishing small details. No need for long sessions; twenty minutes is enough.

On your own, you handle everything — SSL, nginx, domain not working at 11pm, figure it out yourself. Boring stuff until you've done it a few times.

It's also a place to try new stacks, AI agents, a few unnecessary features — no docs, no approvals needed.

The AI era — lucky it exists

Honestly, I'm glad AI exists. Without it, this site would probably still be a Notion page.

Agents helped me move fast — scaffold the project, fix bugs at midnight, tweak the UI so it doesn't scream "generic template." The result looks cleaner than anything I'd have squeezed out alone.

The way I think about it: I'm the owner, the agent is my trusted helper — takes the job, gets it done, reports back, no drama. I decide what to build and what to cut; it handles the grind.

Lately I'm curious about AI agents — this site is also where I try agent-driven feed curation, TTS for reading posts, bilingual content. Stuff I'd only read about in tutorials but never actually shipped.

I'm not writing for the algorithm or the view count. I'm writing for someone at the stage I was a few years ago: knows how to code, wants a place to jot things down, not sure where to start. If you're wondering whether to build your own site — for me the answer is yes, if your goal is to learn and own your work, not just exist on the internet.
